Trevor Born

Dr. Trevor Born earned dual degrees at the University of Florida with a B.A. in Classical Studies and a B.S. in Chemistry, graduating cum laude in both. He earned his Medical Degree at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. Dr. Born then completed Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he learned from and trained under leaders in the field. He concluded his training with a Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, gaining knowledge and expertise in arthroscopic and other minimally invasive techniques for treatment of upper and lower extremity conditions.

During his studies, Dr. Born earned numerous awards and accolades including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Academic Excellence Award, and the Excellence in Medical Neuroscience award from USF College of Medicine.

In conjunction with his specialty in Sports Medicine, Dr. Born served as Team Physician for high school football teams in Minnesota. During fellowship, he served as a team physician for the Brown University varsity teams, taking care of athletes of all sports, as well as the Providence Bruins (Boston Bruins affiliate) AHL hockey team. Recently Dr. Born provided team physician coverage for the NCAA Men’s Ice Hockey Cham- pionship during the regional rounds in Providence, RI.

Dr. Born lectures regionally and nation- ally and his research has been published in several journals. He is a member of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, AAOS (American Academy of Ortho- pedic Surgeons), AANA (Arthroscopy Association of North America), and AOSSM (American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine).

He has served as an Associate Master Instructor for AANA, teaching residents the fundamentals of arthroscopy and sports medicine. Dr. Born is a native of Bradenton, Florida, having graduated from Bayshore High School as valedictorian, and is very excited to be returning to the Gulf Coast. He enjoys football, basketball, golf, guitar, and spending time with his wife, Diana. He joins Sarasota Orthopedic Associates in the commitment to get his patients back on their feet, back to work, back in the game, and back to life.
